The structure is there

Since there is nothing to do at home, I take a deep breath and decide to update my homepage. I decide not to use FrontPage, which is very painful to use, especially because I have a Linux Internet PC and FrontPage is installed on my Office PC and of course, for security reasons, they are on different networks.

That is why I take the decision to use Netscape Composer directly on my Internet PC and do a FTP on the server after this. I thought it would be easy and quick but I didn't quite realize Netscape was really a $#@*Y% !!! As long as you type html text, it is rather stable but as soon as you try to insert images, links or change the properties of a page, you'd better pray and wish you had saved all the changes before ! I wasted almost half of my time on that day in reopening Netscape every time it crashes and redo the things I had already done !

Now, I've decided to do the basic stuff with Netscape composer and do all the changes directly though modifying the source code with e-macs ("e-macs is great", dixit Yves) or vi. Moreover, it enables me to learn a little more about html and to be sure that nothing stupid is inserted in the source code without me noticing !

I also set a daily task which will change the picture on the main page every day. Indeed, thanks to Yves, I have a direct access to the Linux server, which enables me to run some scripts.

Well, after this, the homepage still looks basic but at least, it has different pictures and begins to look like something close to a homepage :) ! I defined the "backbone" of the homepage and I made sure it will be easy to update... if I have the time to do it ;P !
