On the other hand, I think a lot of people will remember today as being one of the hottest days of the year, with 39.5C at its peak.<\/p>\n<p>Actually, it is the warmest day ever recorded in Tokyo, the last record being in 1994 with only 39.1C.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.japantoday.com\">Japan Today News<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>TOKYO  An unprecedented heat wave hit Tokyo on Tuesday morning, with the mercury hitting an all-time high for the capital at 39.5 C shortly before 1 p.m., topping the previous record of 39.1 C recorded Aug. 3, 1994, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.<\/p>\n<p>The new high was logged at 12:58 p.m. from an observation point in central Tokyo&#8217;s Otemachi business district as temperatures soared in the Kanto-Koshin region in eastern and central Japan while a high-pressure system blanketed the Japanese archipelago, the agency said.
