An “old” photo taken exactly 2 years ago in the Canadian Rockies on a cold but beautiful winter day. I was just driving in the other direction when I noticed in the scene in the back mirror and had to stop to take to take a photo.

I love this view of the mountain lit by a soft side light, some of which managing to pierce through the trees, leaving streaks of light on the floor in front of me.

I used my Leica M Monochrom with a 50mm and I love the result. It’s a mix of subtlety in the shadows without burning the highlights and intense sharpness bringing out the angular details of the mountain. More importantly, it makes you feel you are there (when viewed in full screen and with the full resolution file…) Incidentally, it’s also the evidence not all landscape photos need to be taken with a wide angle lens 🙂
