I got up at 4:30am that morning and peeked outside to see if I could beat the weather forecast announcing 100% chance of rain. Seeing some patches of clear sky, I hopped in a taxi and got to the Hong Kong Peak, still misty from a fresh summer night.
As usual, I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed by the clouds unfolding over Hong Kong and told myself I was maybe a little over optimistic as I was setting up my tripod. And as usual I started to be convinced I made the right decision when I saw clouds draw patterns in the sky in my long exposure shots.
That was on a weekday and it was a bit tough to tell myself I had to go to the office soon after shooting that photo… Still, it was worth it and would definitely do it again not to miss that magic moment when the city is still in lethargy and the light is so incredible, if only it wasn’t so physically challenging to shorten your sleep that often!
