Scenes of Holi celebration in the Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan, near Mathura.
The Holi festival, also known as the Festival of Colours (and it’s easy to understand why), is one of the most celebrated festivals in India. It marks the end of the Winter and the start of Spring but also stands for the renewal of relationships, as people can paint each other’s faces and everyone is equal again. On that day, there is no limitation to who can play Holi and people of all ages and of all origins can be equally painted according to the tradition (although I tend to think that foreigners are prime targets!)
The Holi celebrations are especially active in Vrindavan, where Lord Krishna grew up.
