There is really something fascinating about Japan. Everywhere, you can see its attention to perfection, the harmony and the balance, the respect for others and for nature, etc. It’s not just to be keep appearances like a superficial smile to someone, it’s rooted deep down in the culture and in people.

When I look at Japanese gardens, I see the same balance, as if Nature had also understood this way of being: the way plants and trees are well matched with each other in terms of shapes and colours but also how buildings also blend in with elegance without one overpowering the other. Even in what could have been a mess, everything is somehow at its place and forms a beautiful composition.

When I compose photos, I am also after such balance. I want to expose the inner beauty in what I see, trying to immerse myself into in without intrusion. The result I try to achieve is to give the viewer the impression he/she is there with me, witnessing the scene without disturbing it.
